Attendance Register + Homework Diary: Two Daily Jobs Every Class Teacher Can Finish in Minutes
A class teacher's day starts and ends with two small jobs: marking attendance in the morning and writing the homework diary before the last bell. Neither is difficult, but both are repeated every single day. Ruling a new register page each month and copying homework into thirty diaries adds up to hours.
Two free tools make both jobs faster. The Attendance Register prints a clean monthly register or lets you mark attendance on screen with live totals. The School Diary & Homework Planner turns the day's homework into printable slips or a ready WhatsApp message for parents. Here's how to use both.
Part 1: The monthly attendance register
What it makes
A monthly class register with day columns, weekday initials, greyed-out Sundays and holidays, P / A / L / Leave totals, attendance percentage and signature lines, on A4 or A3. Print it blank to fill by hand, or mark attendance on screen and print the completed register with a monthly summary page.
Step-by-step
- Enter the school, class, section, teacher, month and year, and tap the holidays.
- Paste your students from Excel or Google Sheets (Name, Father, Roll no; father and roll are optional). No students yet? You'll get numbered blank lines to write names in.
- Choose a blank register, or mark on screen: tap a cell to cycle Present → Absent → Late → Leave, or tap a day number to mark everyone present. You can also paste attendance rows from Excel.
- Watch the live totals, set the percentage below which attendance is highlighted as low, and download the A4 or A3 PDF.
The percentage is calculated as (Present + Late) ÷ days marked, so Absent and Leave count against the student.
Part 2: The homework diary
What it makes
Write the day's classwork, homework for each subject, items to bring, reminders and a note for parents once. Then print neat, colourful homework slips (1, 2 or 4 per A4 page, ready to cut and distribute), switch to a Monday-to-Saturday weekly planner (A4 landscape), or copy a plain-text message for the class WhatsApp group.
Step-by-step
- Enter the school, class and section, and add your logo.
- Pick the date and a subject list (or copy subjects from last day), then type the homework for each subject.
- Choose 1, 2 or 4 slips per page, or the weekly planner, then print, or copy the WhatsApp message and paste it in your group.
No login is needed, and your entries save on your own device, so tomorrow's diary starts where today's ended. A short, consistent format every day also helps parents know exactly where to look.
Why this matters more than it seems
Attendance records are often the first thing an inspection team or a parent asks for when there's a concern about a student. A neat register with correct totals, percentages and a monthly summary answers those questions in seconds. Homework that reaches parents every day, on paper or on WhatsApp, builds trust and gives parents a simple way to support their child at home. Both jobs are small, but done consistently they make a class run smoothly.
Free vs Premium
Both tools are free. PDFs include the website watermark; Premium members get Word downloads and watermark-free files.
Tips for busy class teachers
- Mark attendance in the first five minutes on your phone, then print the full register at month end.
- Use the low-attendance highlight to call parents early, before a student falls behind.
- Write homework during the last period, not after school, and post the WhatsApp message before students leave.
- Use the weekly planner on Monday to plan tests and projects so parents see the week ahead.
- Keep homework short and clear: "Maths: Exercise 4.2, Q1–5" is better than "do some sums".
Mistakes to avoid
- Forgetting to mark holidays in the register, which lowers every student's percentage.
- Different student order between your list and pasted attendance rows. Keep the same order, or start each row with the name.
- Clearing your browser data without printing. The diary saves on your device, so print or copy what you need first.
- Sending homework only on WhatsApp. Some parents don't use it, so print slips for those students.
روزانہ کا کام آسان، تو پڑھانے کے لیے زیادہ وقت۔
Frequently asked questions
Are the attendance register and homework diary free?
Yes. Both are free, with PDFs that include the website watermark. Premium adds Word downloads and watermark-free files.
Can I print a blank attendance register?
Yes. Print a blank monthly register on A4 or A3 to fill by hand, or mark attendance on screen and print the completed one.
How is the attendance percentage calculated?
(Present + Late) ÷ days marked. Absent and Leave count against the student.
Can I send homework on WhatsApp?
Yes. The homework diary creates a plain-text message you can copy and paste into your class WhatsApp group.
Do I need to log in to use the homework diary?
No. It works without login and saves your entries on your own device.
Can I print the register on A3?
Yes. Download the attendance register as an A4 or A3 PDF. A3 gives larger cells, which many teachers prefer for big classes and hand-marking.
Start this month's register. Open the Attendance Register →
