Upload Your AIOU Assignment File and Get Assignment No. 1 & 2 Drafted: A Step-by-Step Guide
Every AIOU semester begins the same way. The assignment file arrives (a PDF, a scanned copy, sometimes just photos forwarded on WhatsApp) and inside it sit Assignment No. 1 and Assignment No. 2 for each course, each with five or more questions. Typing every question out, setting up a cover page and getting the first draft moving can eat a whole weekend before you have learnt anything.
The AI Assignment Writer on DigitalSpot was built for exactly this moment. It writes structured answers in English or Urdu, adds a colourful cover page and exports a print-ready file. Its newest Premium feature, Upload Assignment File, removes the boring part completely: upload the file once and the tool finds every assignment inside it, types all the questions for you and fills the course details on the cover page. This guide walks through the whole process and shows you how to use the drafts properly.
What the "Upload Assignment File" feature actually does
When a Premium member uploads an assignment file, the AI reads it the way you would: page by page, looking for each separate assignment. AIOU files usually contain "Assignment No. 1" and "Assignment No. 2" (sometimes more) one after another, and the tool keeps them apart instead of mixing their questions together. For each assignment it shows a card with:
- The assignment number exactly as printed (No. 1, No. 2 …).
- Course title and course code, for example "Educational Psychology (8613)", plus the programme, semester, total and pass marks, due date and the units covered, whenever these are printed on the file.
- Every question in order, with sub-parts such as (a), (b), (i), (ii) kept together, already marked Long or Short based on the marks and wording, and the marks shown next to it.
The course name, semester and assignment number go onto the cover page automatically. Your personal details (name, father's name and roll number) always come from the cover form you fill in, and the upload never changes them.
The file can be a PDF (typed or scanned), a Word file (.docx), or up to six photos of the pages. Keep it under about 3 MB. Old .doc files can't be read, so save them as .docx or PDF first, or simply photograph the pages.
Free vs Premium: what you get
- Free for everyone: paste up to 5 questions, mark each one Long (a detailed answer of up to about 800 words) or Short (to the point), choose English or Urdu, add a cover page in one of the ready colour themes, and download a PDF. Free PDFs carry the website watermark and open after a short download timer. Guests get a small daily word allowance, and a free account gets a much bigger one.
- Premium: the Upload Assignment File feature, Scan Question Page (photograph up to 3 pages and the questions are typed in for you), Word (.docx) downloads, watermark-free files, any custom cover colour, and no download timer.
Step-by-step: from assignment file to a ready draft
Step 1: Fill the cover form once
Open the AI Assignment Writer and switch on Add a Cover Page. Type your name, father's name, roll number, institute, the tutor's name ("submitted to") and the submission date. Pick a document colour; it is used on the cover, the question headings and the divider lines, in both PDF and Word.
Step 2: Upload the assignment file
Tap Upload Assignment File and choose your PDF, Word file or photos. If you are taking photos, shoot each page straight from above in good light so every line is readable. A scanned file works too.
Step 3: Check the detected assignments
After a few seconds a Detected assignments panel appears with one card per assignment. Read through each one. You can correct a question's text, add or remove a question, switch Long/Short, and edit the course and semester printed on that assignment's cover. If the questions are in Urdu, the writer switches to Urdu automatically.
Step 4: Write all assignments
Press Write all assignments to draft them one after another, or use Write answers on a single card. A progress bar shows how many questions are done, and each finished card shows its total word count. Prefer the normal editor? Use Load into writer to move one assignment's questions and cover details into the main writer.
Step 5: Read, personalise, then download
Open View answers and read every answer carefully. Then download each assignment as its own file, with its own "Assignment No." on the cover, or use Download all. Premium members get Word files they can edit freely.
No file? The free method still works well
If you don't have Premium, type or paste up to five questions into the writer, mark each Long or Short, and generate. For long questions the AI writes a structured answer with an introduction, clear headings and a conclusion, and short questions get concise, direct answers. Add the cover page and download the PDF. For a course with ten questions, simply make two documents.
Tips for answers that actually help you
- Paste the full question, including sub-parts. "Discuss (a) … and (b) …" gives a far better answer than half a question.
- Use Long only where the marks justify it. A 5-mark definition doesn't need 800 words, and examiners notice padding.
- Add local examples yourself. A Pakistani classroom example from your own experience makes an answer clearly yours.
- Match the study guide's terms. If your unit calls it "formative evaluation", use that phrase in your edited answer.
- Keep your own copy. Save the Word file (Premium) or PDF before you hand-write or print, so you can revise later for the exam.
Mistakes to avoid
- Submitting the draft word for word. The tool itself tells you to treat answers as a strong first draft: review them and rewrite them in your own words, both to really learn the material and to respect your university's academic-integrity rules.
- Skipping the detected-questions check. A blurry photo can cut a word; fix it before writing, not after.
- Mixing up assignments. Each assignment downloads as its own file, so keep No. 1 and No. 2 in separate folders and label them with the course code.
- Leaving everything to the last night. Uploading takes seconds, but reading and personalising the answers still needs a few calm hours.

Frequently asked questions
Is the AI Assignment Writer free?
Yes. Writing answers for up to 5 questions, the cover page and the PDF download are free within a daily allowance (bigger with a free account). Free PDFs include the website watermark. Upload Assignment File, Scan Question Page, Word downloads and watermark-free files are Premium features.
Does the upload work with Urdu assignment files?
Yes. The file can be in English or Urdu, typed or scanned. Questions are kept in their original language, and if they are in Urdu the writer switches its answer language to Urdu automatically. You can change it before writing.
Will it fill my name and roll number from the file?
No, on purpose. The upload only fills course, semester and assignment number. Your name, father's name and roll number always come from the cover form you type yourself.
Can I edit the answers?
Yes. Review every answer on screen, and Premium members can download an editable Word file. You should personalise the answers in your own words before submitting.
